What I did in storytime, Gulp!

One of my all time favorite themes–books about things that get eaten! So many good books with this theme have come out lately. Bon Appétit!

Theme: Gulp, something gets eaten!          Age: preK          Early Literacy Focus: Love Books/Reading

Nanette’s Baguette was a hit. I thought it might be a little long but they were riveted. These are all fun reads.

Sticky Art–contact paper with the sticky side up

Lion Letter Gobble

For this activity I printed an image of a lion roaring on cardstock, laminated it then taped it to a small box with a hole cut out for the mouth. I did the same process with pictures representing all the animals in the A Hungry Lion along with bottle caps that have letters and numbers written on them.

Of course, we had to taste a baguette! Only one kid knew what a baguette was so this was a good enrichment experience.

Any activity that has kids up and moving is always a hit with our storytime groups. This bean bag toss/color sort activity was easy and free to make!

Until next time!
